This was probably my third reading of The War of Art in the past two years. I love this book. I think everyone should read it. It’s a fantastic kick in the butt. It’s geared toward writers, but really applies to anyone who is trying to do something out of the ordinary.
Pressfield, a successful novelist (The Legend of Bagger Vance), uses examples from his own life and others, to explain how Resistance is a force present within all of us, and how it needs to be battled every day. Even though the features of Resistance seem daunting at first, it can be easy to beat: just do the work, every single day.
Pressfield believes that Resistance is manifested in just about every human vice and illness. If you’re doing something counterproductive or destructive; that’s Resistance at work. Once you start doing what you were put on this earth to do, most problems brought on by boredom or depression simply disappear.
This is an inspiration must-read!
